Plant-Based or Vegan?

While these two terms are fundamentally different, they share many similarities.

Both options (including a whole food plant-based option) have an incredibly positive impact on your personal health – when followed correctly.  Let's briefly break down the difference between the two.

Plant-Based

‘Plant-based’ commonly means someone who eats a diet based primarily (more often, totally) of plant-based foods, with no animal-derived products.  A ‘Whole Food, Plant-Based’ diet goes one step further and sees oils and processed, packaged foods and overly processed grains excluded from the diet all together. Many, however, fall between these two choices.

Vegan

The term ‘Vegan’ covers more than just a person’s diet.  It includes a person’s lifestyle choices as well. A vegan lifestyle aims to avoid consuming, using, or exploiting animals in any way possible.  Some vegan's follow this very strictly, which is to be commended.  Others follow it as best as they possibly can.
